Wolfgangsee (Zwölferhorn ‘with Enrichment’)

A tour through beautiful alpine pastures and many idyllic and peacefully located mountain huts. It is possible to travel on the Zwölferhorn railway with mountain bike.

The start of this route in Abersee is identical to route 46,
the Breitenberg tour. We follow this stretch past the Gschaidalm and through the Brennwald to the turn-off to the right in the direction of the mountain hut Karschhütte. At the timber yard we carry straight on and ride downhill until we end up in the valley - Schafbachtal, where we turn off right.

It now goes uphill again to the mountain hut Schafbachhütte.
We keep right in the bend (the road Sonnbergstraße comes from the left). We ride downhill in the direction of the mountain hut inn Grögernalm, before which we turn left towards Tiefbrunnau (there is however also the possibility to reach Tiefbrunnau by turning right past the River Inn and going along the road -Widdersbergstraße). The main route reaches the tarmacked national road in the part of the village called Hatz, where we turn right in the direction of Zwölferhorn .

A 6 km long ascent now leads up to 600 meters of altitude to the popular snacking area of the Sausteigalm, where the road Almstraße turns off right to Zwölferhorn. The descent from Zwölferhorn, in the opposite direction, reaches the route no. 44, the classic Zwölferhorn (side 8). This is how we get to Pillstein (seen from the summit to the left) and after the barn turn right onto the new track to Pillsteinsattel.

We follow the track right; there are then short stretches where we have to carry the bikes, left over a stile in the direction of the Alm huts. We then come around the alpine meadow to the descent on the forest road to Abersee,, which leads through the graveyard in a part of the district called Brunn, where we ride for a short while on the road Gemeindestraße back to our starting point on the right.
